Subject: Jim Christian is the real deal


Quite an impressive debut for Jim in his press conference and post conference reception with alums. He is a smart, engaging guy who values the need for a close relationship with alums and students. A refreshing change. His acquired wisdom and bountiful contacts will serve us well

He is already meeting with our kids in the portal, several of whom attended the press conference and stuck around to meet with alums. Frank was cordial but made clear that he wants to try playing at a higher level and cash in on perhaps $100G in NIL dollars. He’s looking at options in the Big 10 among others.

One positive note is that TJ Gadsden said he no longer will transfer and instead renew his scholarship. The fact that the Mt St Mary’s coach has left has made him want to decommit. Let’s hope there are others..

You can tell that he wants to get us back on track. Coach Christian reminds me of Tom Pecora. Super approachable & wanting to connect / build relationships. Today was a good day for Griffs basketball.

Having TJ return would be a HUGE step in the right direction for Christian and his future staff. Excited to hear that he has reached out to the players who have entered the portal. His desire to engage with players, fans and alumni is inspiring. It is truly a new era. Go Griffs.

There is vibe with him. He did a nice job of connecting with folks. His personality lends itself to talking / influencing those who care about Canisius / men's basketball. This what we wanted & needed.

Be ready at some he is going to reach out for either the Collective or men's basketball. He knows the importance of asking for money.

If he is going drag us out of the dregs we need to step up with funding. Bona & Siena are always asking for money their programs. We need to be doing the same.

Let's welcome him with open arms & support.

At some point maybe we can even bring back the Cage Club.

I know, one step at a time.

I am not concerned with Jim Christian the new Griffs basketball coach he is a good coach that has been successful. I am more concerned with the Griffs athletics department and the school itself weather they admit internally we need to change the way we value Griffs basketball at the University level that to me is still an unknown we will see but some of these people have been in power for a long time and change can be difficult for some. The Griffs basketball should never have gone as low as the University allowed things to happen with 300’s ranked and back to back 20 loss seasons was ridiculous. It’s a new day hopefully the powers at Canisius listen to what Jim Christian has to say and give him the support and tools he needs to make the Griffs basketball team a MAAC champion again in my opinion. Go Griffs! Let’s Go Buffalo

The program it’s way lost due to poor executive leadership. One could argue that we should have never slipped after the Beilein years. We did and the rest is history.

There should have been a change two years ago.

And now we’re here. It’s not going to happen over night.

Change is not a straight linear line but give the school credit they ripped off the band aid and departed from a low level of mediocrity which should have never been tolerated.

Let’s support Jim and look forward vs. backwards.

One of the first thing I'd like to see. Let's get a local radio station to have a weekly talk show on Canisius athletics. Howard Simon would be a great host, and I would bet callers would be plentiful. John Murphy had such a program at one time (discontinued in John Beilein's final season.) WBEN turned the time over to the Bull Dog, and more Bills BS.Go Griffs!!!
