BRIGHTON, N.Y. (WHAM) — Fighting back tears, billionaire Tom Golisano announced Tuesday he plans to donate $360 million to 82 nonprofit organizations across Upstate New York.

The 82-year-old Paychex founder then announced the recipients and the amount they would receive.

The remaining $52 million will go to the Golisano Foundation, which supports people with intellectual and developmental disabilities in Upstate New York and Southwest Florida.

Golisano said the organizations will receive the money as unrestricted grants.

"People ask me why would I do such a thing. First of all, I applied for immortality and they didn't give it to me," Golisano joked. "Secondly, I can't take it with me. But the important thing is there are so many good organizations that provide important services and capabilities to people in our domain here in Upstate New York."
