Subject: Game #2 Analysis - Bonaventure

Man I hate them. Not so much MS and his players but the amazingly obnoxious and arrogant fans.

That's too many words spent on them. On to the good, the bad, and the unknown -

The Good -

*Paul McMillan obviously. The kid is a walking bucket. Not much more I can say.

*Dylan Godfrey was good again. 13 points on 5-9 shooting. I could only think of how good he would be if he had some front court help.

*Tana Kopa. Great night shooting and made some very tough 3's. Should be a real tough match-up in the MAAC.

*Anthony Benard. I wish he would look to score a bit more but for the most part, I like how he runs the show. 8 assists, 3 steals, and just 2 turnovers.

*Cam Palesse. Got the start over EVDP. The kid is limited offensively but really plays hard. 5 point/5 boards.

*Jas Sangha. Same as I said against Arizona. He's limited but consistent. 5 points in 16 minutes but just 1 rebound.

*Shot 48% from the field, 44% from 3, and 83% from the line. Shooting has certainly not been an issue but they had some dry spells tonight that allowed their opponent to go on a few runs. Just 9 turnovers.

The Bad -

*Gianni Thompson. A total enigma to me. Didn't play at all in the first half. Two minutes in the second half and recorded one statistic - a turnover. Looks like Tarzan but so far, has played like Jane. I'm still hopeful that he figures it out.

*EVDP. Did someone say enigma? Trying to square his performance so far with the pre-season hype. Hoping it's just a transitional thing.

*Tyson Oghene. DNP. Did someone say enigma? Oh wait, I already said that.

*Badly out rebounded again - 37 to 23. Points in the paint 46-20. Wow.

The Unknown

*How will they respond at Mercyhurst? Probably the most winnable game on the schedule. I plan to be in attendance.

*TJ Porter injured yes, but not at the game???

Can someone please explain to me the wisdom behind redshirting a kid in the transfer portal era? Chances are you won't have the kid for 4 years anyway so aren't you just eliminating one of the years you could have him play and at least give you something? Mean to tell me the Easterling kid couldn't give you more than Thompson or the juco that didn't play? Especially on a team that is getting pummeled in the paint.

Griff, Bona fans are like any other fans who love their team. I liken them to what we had when the Pats & Chiefs had their ways with the Bills. I agree with you & feel your pain.

Nice analysis on the game. Let’s see how we respond when it comes to the output from our bench, rebounding & points in the paint.

Go Griffs!

You can love your team and not be an asshat. They're super annoying - as evidenced by the moron in my section who nearly got his ass handed to him because he couldn't keep his mouth shut.

Please don't tell me you are putting them anywhere near the level of the fans of two iconic teams. The only thing slightly impressive about Bonaventure is that they can get half way decent players to live in that shithole town.

Griff, I totally agree with you. Bona fans are classless.
Always have been - always will be.

There was a Bonaventure player mom who screamed at Petey and dancers. She also tried inviting the Canisius bench. Not all Bona fans are jerks, but a lot of the worst fans in WNY are Bona fans.

Yeah #1's mom. Total embarrassment. Finish your weight loss surgery and get your arms tucked. You were blocking my view with all that flab.

I was at the game, and sat next to. a couple with Bona sweet shirts on. I thought the crowd behavior was fine. Apparently, there was one area where a problem arose. Thankfully, the Bona fans turned out and help fill the place, and it was nice to see some life in college basketball. It was an entertaining game despite the fact that the Bonnies size was just too much for the Griffs. Yes, there were lots of bright spots for Griff fans, and I hope that the fans stay with these guys. Go Griffs, and spread the word that college basketball is the best bargain in town.

You know, in the past I attacked Bonas and got a little slammed on this board for it, but I'm glad to see that fast-forwarding to today's time, many of you agree. Griff is absolutely right (and me too). Their fans are arrogant jerks - of course not all of them are, but there are far too many in their ranks. I have been to several games down there over the years, and nearly every game is filled with drunk, obnoxious, classless students. I guess there's nothing else to do in Olean except get plastered and then go to the game and make a complete a-hole out of yourself. I have never once seen that low level of behavior at the K-Center - unless we're playing Bonas.
