Subject: Just Watched Chris Kumu and Ft. Erie International Academy

84-81 win over West Oaks (FL) in the "Grind Session World Championships" in Salt Lake City. This is next level prep hoops and my first chance to watch Kumu live. I've only seen clips previously.

First and foremost, this kid really guards. Secondly, very fundamentally sound and poised. Has a bunch of talent around him and doesn't force things. Modest numbers tonight - 7 points on 3-5 from the field/1-2 from the line.

I think 6'3" may be pushing it a bit. Probably closer to 6'1" but the announcers mentioned a few times what a dunking show he put on pre-game. Just knows how to play. Which to me is the ultimate compliment.

I'd be remiss not to mention West Oaks 6'4" junior Willie Burnett. Good Lord. Had 44 points on some unreal shooting and dynamic play making ability. Ever been to Buffalo Willie? Man.
