The small, mid-major schools like us need to figure a way to maintain relevance and alumni support when the bigger, richer schools steal our best athletes when our players succeed. Leaving D-I would diminish the value of Canisius and abandon our mission. For now, we are not following the St Francis model

I just don't see how Canisius - and likely the bulk of schools in the MAAC and NEC don't end up going D3. At least Canisius can fall back on D1 hockey.

Why can't you? They aren't going D3. Oh and no one cares about college hockey.
