Subject: Agent and other outside influences

It is becoming clearer and more dramatic each year that many of the players in the portal are being heavily influenced by agents signing them up just like most professional athletes and then getting players to the highest bidder and of course the agent getting paid a percentage. I would assume agents are negotiating even for players remaining at the school they are at. Also have to assume particularly with the schools that have named a basketball GM those conversations with agents are ongoing throughout the year not just durning the portal period. So as this continues to unfold we are likely to end up with a nfl type system but with every player being a free agent every year with no transfer restrictions in place. Every mid and low major in the country risks losing most of their rosters every year which has been the case for the most part with all of the Big 4 schools the last couple years. I don't believe even a reorganization of Division 1 will curtail this as good players in the lesser schools will always be looking to move up to a better team or better payday. It really comes down to the free multiple transferability rule so as long as that exists it is only going to escalate further into all out monetary wars between schools to pay players more and more. With the courts becoming more involved in "safeguarding" players rights I don't see any possibility of the transfer rule or lack thereof changing. So what we knew and loved about college basketball is gone and not returning anytime soon I'm afraid. Where we go from here as a school who knows?

We will also have a generation of so called student athletes who will have no education, the money which they earned in the portal will be gone & none will be prepared for life. Chasing dream that will only pan out for a few. Sad state of affairs for the sport & these kids.

Right that education seems to play no part in the equation for most players, wonder how many are actually graduating today from someplace, seems like you did need at least 60 credits from one institution to get a degree in the past , has that changed? Again with free transferability
anybody can be in the ear of even the most medicare player saying you could be better here or better there , etc and with team unity being a thing of the past the momentum that gets generated is to lets move on rather than to lets create something special here.
