Maybe I'm just borrowing trouble, but if something else comes up, I'd like to be handle it.
What if "the optimal parts of their worlds" aren't part of their plans or goals?

Some may be so discouraged, they won't accept "their unrealized power" no matter what. Or they may think their power isn't enough.

The status quo seems to be the ultimate comfort zone. It seems you believe people can be forced to face their discomfort, even if they're sure they're comfortable.
