I think this is a wonderful idea for working women in NYCTA to express and share their experiences. I would like to share one of my many experiences I substained, one day I was working on the Bronx #41 line when an unknown man grabbed my breast with so much force (while exiting the bus) he left his hand prints on my breast, naturally one would think this was awful but this was tolerable what was awful was the things that happened after reporting the incident. I was denied worker's comp. because of a sexual assault that I suffered at the age of 12 NYCTA felt that if I had never sufferd the earlier assault I would have been able to return to work the next day so I was being punished for being assaulted. I was then expected to make all consulting visits as well as doctor visits or suffer the conseqences, this was ludicrous how could I possibly make Doc. visits I couldnt even feed my family I didn't have a penny, public transportation to the doc. visits wasn't an option because I was working for what is considered the other authority and wasn't permitted to use my pass on the buses or subway, Thank God for a certain union official who helped me out. One year later I won the case at the Comp. hearing this was great but so sorry it was a whole year to late a single parent, her child and her sick mother had suffered things that could never be corrected.
