Subject: Celebrations of The International Day of Peace

In the link below, a prayer for peace in every language is celebrated.

This is a companion piece to the United Nations' International Day of Peace, observed each September. The piece was created in commemoration of the new millenium.

An interesting fact about the International Day of Peace:
'In 1981, the General Assembly declared that the third Tuesday of September, the opening day of the regular session of the G.A. each year, "shall be officially dedicated and observed as the International Day of Peace and shall be devoted to commemorating and strengthening the ideals of peace both within and among all nations and peoples" (G.A. Resolution 36/67).'

It is an unfortunate and sad irony that this day of World Peace is always celebrated on a Tuesday in September. May the brave acts of those who protect us from brutal and senseless attacks of violence and who embrace freedom for the innocent so completely that it may still be there to embrace us in return, be remembered reverently as "devotions and commemorations of strengthening the ideals of peace both within and among all nations and peoples."
