Well, I had my drum dilemna when I was about 8 years old
and that was 20 years before your junior highschool band.
Good for you I'm glad you had that opportunity, but at a slight 5 feet I'm afraid a bass drum would be too much for me. I can play most instruments a littlebit except for the winds, hard to sing and blow at the same time. LOL

I never persued band after that but my desires did remerge
in college and I got a used kit. I've learned from friends and sat in on a wonderful class in the music building in NY courtesy of a tenant. That's been it for me and I don't have my kit anymore. Hard to play drums in an apartment.
Someday maybe I'll have a house with a basement and I can bang away to my hearts content.
