In reply to: henry 's message, "design" on 15:22:41 06/28/01 Thu

I've checked all the sites Henry recommended....MMmmm
Is Henry the only one who can do those things? We cannot carry out "division of labour" if that's the situation...
I hope everyone can do some basics...

Hey! Who still have the details of that Dreamweaver course at the beginning of July? Date, time, venue??? But anyway I'll find some way to improve my skill..... I've *started* flash, director and dreamweaver.

Flash in Requiem looks more like a parody than anything else. We can visualize our idea with the interactive media in the same way.... not necessary using flash to show that "hey look, we can do flash!" You know it doesn't mean you have to do it.

I don't know how long it'll take if we go "flashy"...? Is it a good thing if the site is flash player natvigated (or with HTML version as well).... Or will everyone who want to contribute to the site have to do some flash??

i think your right jenny, the problem with flash is the fact that its is annoying to update. With html/ javascript (apparently this is quite easy to learn) we can (to an extent) do exactly the same as flash but more updateable This is resonable fiddly.

On the other hand if we are doing one issue a term updateablity might not be an issue

If anybody has any ideas, interactive sketchbooks, messageboard/discusion forum, layout, colour etc

Maybe two sites, one flash, one html, linked from the first page.

see http://www.designmuseum.org

the main thing i think is to keep it simple and effective, one that functions on as many browsers as possible,

we could have like the magazine, twenty odd sections each could be whatever each person wants, possibly different to the magazine ?

I don't have experience of building website, though
I can make character animation and simple navigation using flash4 and have a little bit of knowlidge for dreamweaver.

hello all, I really like the idea of having a mix of flash and html stuff. we could have them as differnt sites like on one of the sites henry recomended, i dont know. I think we should maybe try to keep the site as experimental as possable using what ever we want to get the effects we want. I think for the nature of this magazine updateability on the sites probably isn't a very important factor.
