Today, since it was sooo nice and warm out for this time of year, I took ThunderChild out for a ride. I went Western which is my preferred choice. We headed for some trails behind my place that run by this nice creek(now frozen of course), and some big fields perfect for galloping. ThunderChild was quite jumpy, this being one of the first times she's been out this winter and away from her baby whose now quite grown up. There was a wind blowing which kept her on her toes too. It was soo funny watching her! There was this grouse sitting there which she pretended not to see, and then when we were really close it flew off and she practicly jumped out of her feet!! So cute. We crossed the creek at a really shallow spot and came into the field. I checked to see if the trail we were following was icy and when it wasn't I put ThunderChild into a canter and then a gallop. It was so awesome!! I haven't galloped since the fall. She is so smooth too. =) We eventually turned around and headed home. Once she was back in her stall I rewarded her with a juicy carrot. That was a great ride.
