BC- after Joplin we had another tornado and the backyard is a disaster! UGH. In 1994-1995 our public schools & yours truly were awarded Hands Across America humanitarian award for LAPD & local service groups product drive after the earthquake. Three weeks ago we kicked off the same campaign for Joplin. We need 8000 of everything used in a home, yard maintenance, etc. Rhema Bible Ministries of Broken Arrow , Ok set up a free food pantry. It will get supplies for six months. We are working on a webpage and a local bank is setting up a trust account. Joplin needs everything and is getting little assistance. Hope you all are fine & had a great 4th!! JAC

FYI- Were not wealthy, famous, or seeking publicity. We have ten states participating. Start your own Hands Across America- Ace Hardware joined in too. We will work until the needs are filled. This is a tragic situation- the aftermath is discusting- There is a definite lack of action by the powers that be. One third of hospital staff became patients in the M A S H . They couldn't be sent home as most lost their homes, jobs, everything. God Bless America-JAC

Jac - Members from our church go to Joplin each Saturday from where we are in Springfield to work with various groups at various sites. There is still a ton of work to be done. However, I have recently heard several times now from several media outlets and charities that non-monetary donations were not being accepted, that there is no place to store much of what is being sent there and that the charities there were being overwhelmed. That's why it would seem there has been "little assistance." I'm sure it's not from a lack of generosity, but from some serious misinformation.
