Hey Defiant, long time no see! :-)

I agree that pictures can really affect how you look at a toy - some of the early Armada pictures I thought looked awful, but when you got the toys they weren't all that bad......Hell, come to that some of the early pics of Beast Machines toys just looked godawful, and some of them were, but some were awesome.

I sense we disagree on the Armada toys though - while I concede they were a step down from RID, I think the playability went up, which for toys is a critical point. RID toys were poseable and looked fantastic but what did they have in terms of playability (a property I think Armada, for all its faults, has in spades) The Autobot brothers all had their fragile areas - and Omega Prime did have a tendency to fall apart. For me RID was as close Transformers should get to the realm of McFarlane-esque statuettes - look fantastic but don't really come off as toys. Armada was erring a little too much to the Playschool realm - I only hope they strike a better balance with Energon. I remain open to being convinced once I see the toys and hold them in my hands.

I hope Energon does well - after all without the toylines it really all falls apart - however I do think the TV show will continue down the route of mediocrity set by RID and confirmed by Armada. Why modern TV shows seem to assume the stupidity of children as a baseline for TV production, I do not know......

FD (who is, for those who may or may not be interested, 25 today!) :-)
