Subject: Armada Episode 1 review (spoilers)

I have made it clear that I hated Armada. I think it is the worst TF show that has come to the US. Knowing Energon is a sequel I was not looking forward to the show at all. I expected another kiddie show with the worst animation I have seen in recent anime. Thankfully the show was MUCH better than I expected.

Animation

First of all the animation is MUCH better than Armada. It is the Cell combined with CGI that is filtered to look like cel, similar to the show "Zoids". I am normally not too fond of this type of animation, but next to Armada, it looks Fantastic. Also the Cel animation that does not include the CGI in this is much better than Armada as well.

The Characters
___________________________________________________________
Many of the characters from Armada return, howver the show is better written this time, so the characters are more likable. Ironhide replaces Hotshot as the young Autobot with heart, trying to prove himself. Only complaint is that after G1 it is hard to see a character named Ironhide acting like a teen, but that shouldn't bother anyone unfamilier with G1. There is a kid who is a main character, but the twist is that he actually doesnt like Transformers or that humans have to rely on them. I am curious how this will play out. The kids taking centerstage in Armada much of the time was one of the biggest flaws. Now, the focus is back on the transformers which is a Very good thing.

The Episode's Story
___________________________________________________________

it is ten years since the end of Armada, and the Autobots and Decepticons have had a peaceful alliance this whole time. Unicron is apparently disabled and one of his victims has been revived to sent out a major fleet of Battle Ravages, and Divebomb's to get energon. This leads to a major battle on Autobot City on earth. Hundreds of these drones attack and are wiped out by the autobots. What makes this episode great however is not so much the story, but the tons of action that came with it.

Overall this is my favorite first episode of ANY Transformers series. I just hope that the rest of this series is up to par.
