Subject: Gigatron and Black Convoy, what are they?

I've been considering the existence of these two, and exactly what they're more or less based off of. I think the designers may have intended quite a bit with these two just beyond a black Prime/Convoy and a sixchanger.

The first one seemed obvious to me almost immediately, Darth Maul and Darth Vader. Gigatron is Maul not so much in his exact looks, but more in the fact that, in Car Robots, he came first. His huge dual saber also adds to that illusion, aided by Black Convoy's similarities to Darth Vader. Mainly black with few other colors, red eyes and a big red blade, he's just shy of a cape.

Given that CR came out after episode 1, and the general SW influence you can often see in some anime, the two do seem similar.

Another thought. Gigatron as the devil/underworld overlord, and Black Convoy as a grim reaper sort of entity. One a bringer of death, and Gigatron strikes me as some sort of demon. He's hardly the standard Cybertronian. Shy of the fact he transforms and comes from Cybertron. Plus, if the Cybertronian species had an evil underworld, Gigatron would be my first choice as ruler.

I know Unicron is typically seen as the "ultimate evil", but I see him more of a Cthulhu entity, a large devourer.

I'm sure I'm missing something though. Anyone else have insights?
