The best thing would be to teach her by methods that are appropriate for dyslexics. If she is a late bloomer instead, no harm is done, and you have given her a good start. Children who have trouble learning their letters often have an easier time with letters that are turned into pictures. (The research of Ehri and Wilce supports this.) I have made some fish games with mnemonic picture-letters that my young beginners enjoy. I offer them as free e-mail attachments from my website: www.mnemonicpictures.com. This site offers other materials that have worked well in my half-century of tutoring dyslexics.
