Subject: As a young farmer, sometimes the lessons taught by the elders were hard.
In reply to: Master Dai-Ur 's message, "Look at that star, young one...do you know what it is?" on 22:34:37 07/08/01 Sun

But their chores were harder.

Always the Elders spoke of "knowing your home" or "knowing your place" or "feeling the ground" or "honoring the Queen" but never did they go into lessons on the way all this worked. He would close his eyes, just like they always told him, and he would feel the kingdom of the Queen all about him...yet he didn't understand why.

Why did it work in such a manner

Dai-Ur'Son never would have had such an approach to life as to dare ask the question "why". The Elders of the Farms and his ancestors never asked the question "why"...they just existed. When they fled from their various villages and binded together...there were no questions why they should flee...only that it had to be done.

He had brought up this point with Father Dai-Ur and his Sire simply answer with a short but final "Do you question why breath enters your lungs and why you live? Why question the past? The past is. That is all."

So he began to look elsewhere for his answers. He had an option that many of his ancestors did not have...the scientists of Starbase Rugby. The geologists would walk about the farm taking notes on everything and studying the ground...if anything they would find out why Manar worked. He had heard the tales of the peaks where fire and hail rained. He had heard whispered stories of a King in the Ocean. Stories? Myths? Fact? Fiction? Which was it?

He prayed, no...he hoped, that the teams that have been set out into the wilderness would find answers...he just hoped that he knew the answers.

And what about this "Son" that the Elders always spoke of. Their son among the stars. What did they speak of?

Dai-Ur'Son didn't know...but he wanted answers. And in his heart he began to doubt the words of the Elders and the Path...and decided, quite on his own, that it was time for things to change...
