Subject: A fair Oireachtas-the program is a start but if you really want to do the right thing, ban costumes that identifies which school a dancer is from

I appreciate what the committee is trying to do to make this a fair Oireachtas for all, but until MidAmerica Region and CLRG bans solo costuming that identifies the school to which a dancer belongs, eliminates the number check - whose sole purpose seems to be to help judges id those dancers and adjust scores accordingly, and prevents teachers from standing right next to judges table when their dancers are on stage, the fairness of our Oireachtas will ALWAYS be questioned by parents who have witnessed these practices going on literally for years.
It does not take a rocket scientist to pick out dancers from 3 schools in particular in our region from a line up at a Feis or major. Couple that with their teacher standing in eye sight of the judges table, it’s very easy to know who dances from said schools. The Oireachtas committee still has time to make adjustments to this year’s competition in light of this scandal.
Sequestered judges and no access to phones and social media would also be helpful.

They could implement the “grade exams” dress code : blackout, No makeup, hair in a pony tail. To the concern about 1 year implementation notice: this could be considered an “emergency” situation - similar to the mask/wristband requirement. If the organization took the resolution of these matters seriously.

[> Agreed. It would be nice to not question awards this year. Definitely going to hurt to see kids in those dresses win, acknowledging some are great dancers and might deserve it but still the marked dresses ARE cheating and should not be allowed. -- Sad state, 08:02:28 11/07/22 Mon (17.sub-174-210-227.myvzw.com/174.210.227.17)

[> If we are being honest in the many I have attended majors I haven’t seen dancers in top ten who do not deserve to be there. I would say if there is any favoritism it would be just movement in shifting within. [> [> This is not necessarily about the top ten -- Equivalent dancers in the “middle”, 02:57:31 11/13/22 Sun (adsl-75-61-167-165.dsl.irvnca.sbcglobal.net/75.61.167.165)

Not everyone has a “top ten” dancer in the race. Most of us parents are concerned about our hard working dancers from schools with TC’s that don’t play the cheating game being edged out of recall or national qualification by same level dancers at schools who identify their dancers. If you look at results from the last two Oireachtas and especially this past NANs, you will see dancers in the middle from certain schools given 1 score per round by a judge that will boost them up into a placement they likely didn’t deserve. It’s really not that hard to see the patterns if you look for them.
