Subject: TMA turnaround concerns
In reply to: Alan 's message, "T.M.A.'s" on 20:19:44 05/17/02 Fri

Hi all

We are aware that there is a problem with the turnaround for TMAs. Personally speaking I apologize for the inconvenience you have been put to. What I thought I would do is outline what is being done at this point in time to reduce the backlog and get things a little more under control.

First of all, myself and a few other staff members are pitching in (much as I did myself a few months ago) to help out with Hilary's marking and reduce the backlog - this will mean you should all be seeing your homeworks come back to you within the next few weeks. I will keep you all apprised of our progess here.

Secondly, we are looking at a longer-term solution to the problem in getting more help with the marking. We are currently seeking to recruit an additional full-time tutor who will be dedicated to the Visual Basic course. I would expect this person to be in place within the next month. When I know more about this, I will let you all know - right now all I know for sure is that the situation is being looked at and possible solutions are being put in place.

When I know more I will let you know here. Again I apologize for the inconvenience you have been put to. Hopefully things will be sorted out soon.

Yours sincerely

Douglas
