Subject: 1896, Becquerel to 1899, Lenard

In 1896, Antoine Henri Becquerel, discovered the radioactivity of uranium. (Then the Curies began their laborious work to isolate 'a radiating element'.)
1897-1899, J.J. Thomson determined the charge to mass (q/m)
for cathode rays. --- Also showed that the Edison effect is due to emission of electrons from an incandescent filament.
1898, Pierre & Marie (Sklodowska) Curie, isolated radiating elements; they named "radium" and "polonium".
1899, Philipp Lenard, showed that the phenomonon of photoelectric emission is due to electrons.
{Author's note: Thus, the World's Scientists, looked forward
to the 20th Century !}
