Telling X-husband

I've been divorced 2 yrs now and it was after my husband left me that I found out I have HepC, he has since married again and is separated from her. we were both IV-drug users and shared needles with many and had unprotected sex also with numerous partners before we got together. I know in my heart it is the right thing to do, but I am afraid,because our marriage was very violent and the last thing I need right now is for him to come after me. Another thing when you're put on the waiting list for treatment and they tell you 4to6 weeks are they pretty punctual, the waiting is really depressing and another thing I need to know I am currently receiving SSI because I have Bipolar syndrome, will Medical pay for my medication? Someone please help me !

Next, I don't think you should tell your ex anything at this point, you're lucky to be free of him! I really think you should keep it that way. Your fear is a valid one, please pay attention to it...that's what's keeping you safe.

As for telling your ex well I know for me the less stress the better and the way you discribe things it might be better for your health and peace of mind let him find out on his own... (I feel terible for saying that) I feel it best not to put your self at risk for any type of hassles

Do not tell yor ex. To my way of thinking you don't owe a violent person anything. He would likely blame you when it is as much a reality that he gave to you.

Unfortunately they have not been very punctual with getting people on treatment. They need to make sure once they start you that they have enough meds to allow you to complete therapy. Please be patient. It won't hurt you medically to wait...emotionally is another story.

I do not know for sure but I believe medical will pay. You can call and ask can't you? At least that would be one worry eliminated.

It's really hard to make the decision to treat, and then to have to wait-- well that sux, if you'll forgive a 'technical term'! When you asked about MediCal, that makes me think you're in my state, California. If you're in the San Jose area, we have a support group that meets twice a month. You can find out lots there!

The first number that Theresa posted, Schering's 'Commitment to Care' program, is a place they've set up to help you interface with various insurances, and if you have no source of funding, Schering can and will actually pay for the medications. Please give them a call. Good luck with everything! And -- about the ex: my advise is the same; at this point it's not his business. By the way, HepC is rarely transmitted sexually; blood would have to be present on both sides(sides?). Usually it's the ol' needles, whether administered by a doc or by yourself.

Welcome to the board first of all, my doctor told me not to tell my ex because he felt that he gave it to me, he always shot first with a clean needle then gave it to me and my ex is extremely abusive, he is also is bi-polar from the drugs, so be very careful, just pray for him.
