The enthusiastic three dimesional photonic historian had never been so excited.

"An OPEN channel! All I need do is piggyback an existing signal, using Astrometrics network of satellites! Communications are constantly in motion, and by modulating just right while broadcasting continuously...."

PHOTRON, from within the vast database of the holorooms, a database that in actuality was his 'true' self, created a 3 dimensional representation of himself, one linked to his core and linked to the same responses he himself was originally programmed with. Anyone requesting information or a specific environment creation would be replied to, but without the extra bit of 'personality' that PHOTRON had developed. Satisfied with his proxy, he scanned for a signal passing by his intended destination and broadcast, surprised when the signal bounced back!

To broadcast on a higher frequency that he was would be too noticeable to officers monitoring communications; he didn't want to exceed normal background static which his transmission would hopefully be mistaken for. Whatever was blocking communciations on the other end was fixed though, and by modulating his frequency only slightly at regular intervals, essentially "hanging up and calling back", he thought he could do it.

It was a risk he was willing to take, and this time the gamble paid off. Time would tell if he'd regret making the call...
