Subject: An English man can cook Chinese food just fine
In reply to: lisa 's message, "Re: Doesnt work" on 18:39:19 08/04/02 Sun

Youre right that it wouldnt seem authentic to see a Chinese restaurant entirely staffed by English people, but you bring this old-fashioned belief to inappropriate levels. In today's changing global dynamics, an English man can very well train in China to be a cook and then return to England as a highly trained cook of Chinese cuisine and it would be just as authentic as anybody else who learned to cook from masters of Chinese food. Just because hes a caucosoid doesnt mean that he cant cook mongoloid food.

Also, being Chinese doesnt automatically make one a great cook of Chinese fare as you seem to believe (though you dont mention that bit much in your post). Your theory that Chinese people are INHERENTLY good cooks of Chinese food (and they always follow their leader -- which I wont even get into how insulting that is) is just plain racist. Theres no Chinese food gene. Chinese babies arent born with all the skills they need to be great cooks of Chinese food. Naturally, there are many non-Chinese individuals who cook Chinese food much better than native Chinese individuals.
