Gender: Male
Age: 18
Appearance: Around 5�8 tall, Tathan is a slight young man with a rather effeminate appearance. It isn�t that he really looks like a girl, more that a combination of wide dark eyes, delicate features (a small nose, a rather thin mouth, and rather high cheek-bones) and soft blond hair make him look vulnerable, and his slim build doesn�t help with the effect. He is strong � you have to have good muscles if you live Holdless � but he has never been very good at fighting. His skin is tanned from living outside for most of his life, and his caramel hair, though mostly long enough to be tied back, falls into his eyes � his effort to hide them.
Personality: Painfully shy, Tathan will use any means possible to keep out of peoples� way. He keeps his head down in crowds and speaks as little as he can when he�s spoken to � especially by a man. Though he is reasonably intelligent, he doesn�t show it much, and to everyone he�s just another drudge. He hates the idea of people watching him or noticing him, and to gain his trust you have to show him that he can rely on you; not just tell him that he can.
History: Tathan was born and brought up in a group of nomadic Holdless people, who wandered around constantly, sheltering wherever they could. What was at first simply a natural reticence was made worse by the unwanted attentions of a few of the men in the group�who hadn�t failed to notice that he was rather a pretty youngster. Once they realised that he was ideal for the week-long hunting forays they went on (he wouldn�t hold them back like a woman would, since he could hold his own with a weapon), he couldn�t get away, and although he didn�t see it as anything wrong � he was never told that what the men did to him wasn�t right � it contributed greatly to his shyness. When some dragonriders found them a while ago he agreed to be taken to the Weyr, and become a drudge-come-cook.
Skills: Though he�s not exactly a master chef, Tathan can cook a very edible meal, has an aptitude for hunting, and knows a tiny bit of healing lore.
