Subject: Jamie vs. Alexander?

OMG! And I thought I was the only one who thought about this. At first it felt like heresy, but after having read TBH, I can't help but compare the two heroes. Jamie or Alexander? I can't choose, just shoot me!

Well, maybe I feel a little more in favor of Alexander because I just finished TBH--and that's just one book. With Jamie, I had three more books to devour after Outlander, plus there's a slew of online communities devoted to the 'Scottish Stud Muffin', so it was easier to cure my fix. I feel that Jamie as a hero is more humorous and 'charming' compared to Shura, who is a darker hero. But in terms of dialogue, both of them say the sweetest, most memorable things. Also, because there were four books in the Outlander series so far, we've seen Jamie evolve from the 'young Jamie' to the 'old Jamie' (and I preferred the young version), whereas The Bronze Horseman took place in 2 or 3 years and Alexander's character didn't undergo any significant changes.

Here are the things I loved about Shura: When he followed her to Luga; when he defended her from her drunk father; when he gave her that can of spam after her family ate all the stew ('I forbid you to get their rations for them!'); even the way he gets crazed with anger whenever his Tanechka disobeys him and endangers herself; and of course,

SPOILER

what he did at the end in order to save her. *Sigh*

Still thinking about the book,
Noelle
