This is part of the reason why I tend to trust reviews more when they're from interactive sites like AAR. Somehow these reviews seem to be more attuned to what readers generally feel.

As for the romantic aspect of TBH, I must confess that when I was going through what felt like a hundred-page extended love scene, I couldn't help thinking that Ms. Simons can write sensual romance--of the stuff that's somewhere between hot and burning. Lisa Kleypas (when she was writing Suddenly You) and Dara Joy (in Ritual of Proof) come to mind.

In fact, the focus on Alexander and Tatia's love story in TBH made me wonder, what exactly makes this not a romance? In other books, wartime issues are discussed and yet they're still considered romance (e.g. MJP's Shattered Rainbows). Maybe it has something to do with the length of TBH, or the HEA issue? All I can say is, if you like romance novels, you'll probably love TBH. And yet, the difference in my opinion is that TBH somehow demands more emotional investment than a regular romance novel.
