Subject: Judith McNaught - RT February 2002 Issue

Though it may seem like she's been missing in action to anxious readers who've been awaiting her next novel for close to two years now, we've tracked down this busy bee and she offers good news for 2002.

Fans had been following the progress of Judith's next blockbuster, WATER'S EDGE, which started out as the story of a broadway actress who awakens after her car is run off the road in medieval England, and must find out who tried to kill her in the present-five centuries before it happened! Just before it was to be published in 2000, Judith went into a rewriting frenzy, realizing her story would work much better as two separate books. Thus, this summer and winter of 2002, there will be two new McNaughts and she promises, "Honestly, they are worth waiting for."

WATER'S EDGE, which is now strictly a contemporary, will be released first. The novel stars Broadway actress Leigh Kendall who wakes up in the hospital after a car accident to find she has no memory of the crash and that her husband has disappeared. Judith couldn't give away the hero's identity, but she hints that he's "a very unusual character for me. I've never written a hero like him before." The main characters will be greeted by some familiar faces-to readers anyway. Matt and Meredith from Paradise and Courtney and Paul from Nigbt Wbispers make cameo appearances. In addition, Judith says this book will be much faster paced than her previous suspense novels. "Normally, I like to take my time setting up a situation before the characters are thrown into danger, but with this book, from the very beginning you're on the edge of your seat. It just really 'works.' I'm very happy with this novel. I think it's my best book ever."

The second novel, so far untitled, will be a time travel featuring a female helicopter traffic reporter in Los Angeles who is engaged to be married, when her helicopter crashes and she wakes up in a drafty old Medieval castle in the body of a brooding English lord's new wife. The catch: everyone hates her, because the new wife has just betrayed the lord. Thankfully for the heroine, Lady Katherine (no relation to RTs own Lady Barrow), this book too will also feature some friendly faces like Jennifer and Royce Westmoreland from Kingdom of Dreams.

Judith also wanted to thank her fans for hanging in there for the long wait. "I promise you, they're worth waiting for. Now that there are two books, it's twice the fun."
