Yep its frustrating when a young player retires, i'm glad FBPro '97 has this type of 'weird logic' though otherwise it would be boring if only 12 or 13 year pro's retired and no one else.

I was lucky, i had a few bad retirements (Had many over the years) but old boys like R.Blake and J.Garrett stayed on for one last hurrah
