If memory serves, some of our better GMs started out as co-GMs and were able to take over teams midseason when the inevitable dropouts happened, so on principle I think it's a good idea. If the GMs were willing to share control (like, I'll manage the offense and its players, you manage the defense, and if we have to work out a big trade involving players for both then we'll talk about it but otherwise it's all my own lookout) I think it could be worth doing.

I don't think we've got enough consistent interest for that. We really have yet to field a whole season where 18 GMs stay with the game from start to finish, so expanding to 24 teams would only make the league seem quieter. And I am opposed to anything that wipes the 14-week schedule for the reason you mentioned. I want to keep Alan Allen and Stan White in the record books as long as possible. :)
