Subject: God's choices

God gave mankind the choice of which tree to eat from. So an did not really sin by making the choice. The choice was not sinful either. Mankind could have immortality, or the knowledge of good and evil. This is in the name of the trees themselves. So the choice included the consequences of the choice made.

How was one evil? Living within the garden with needs fulfilled and having eternal life, you could not learn the contrast of good and evil. You could not learn it being immortal either. These things taken from mankind, to facilitate the choice made by mankind.

No real sin, just choice. Was there a need to set up an entire salvation myth on this story? I don't think so.

I do not know if I am convinced that the "fall" was really the start of sin. "Sin" as we would call it would have needed to begin outside of the garden. That would be the Cain and Abel story.

That of course raises another issue not really addressed in Christianity: "Am I my brother's keeper?" Of course the answer implied is "yes." This still does not set up the need for a personal savior.

Our impass of ideas is hinging on what books we accept as the Word of God. I only accept 5 in the Torah. No more. Sure the rest could have inspiration, but so could Shakespeare. I will not base my answers on them. They may be helpful, but cannot contradict the Torah.

So here we will need to accept differences in interpretation because of the different influence on our scriptures.
