Subject: Living for now

The ideais that if we all just kept our own lives in order, everything would be great. A true heaven on earth.

The popular depictions of angels and demons are too simplistic anyway. The word "angel" just means messenger. The wings were added because people wanted to understand how they got to the heavens. They are also not supposed to have knees so they can always stand in praise of God. OR to have bellybuttons because they would have been created the same as Adam and Eve.

As to demons, they have always been popular myth. They were supposed to mirror the angels and be messengers of the dark side. So if there is no "evil" then they are just messengers of God. And as such they do exist, but hw can we call "angels" "demons"? It is the dualistic interpretation that I am refusing.

Sure that is how we experience life, but it is not the reality of the universe or creation. Dualism is the illusion here.

So without a "hell" what is there? We use our abilities to help others and perform mitzvot. This makes us a part of creation and will eventually bring moschiach (messiah) and the return to God. Is it because of our sins? Nope. It is because of how creation was set up.

We do things that hurt others. So we have an idea of actions that should be avoided. We have ways to make these right again. These actions will not bring us an eternal torment. They are mistakes only, God is merciful.

We believe that our actions do influence God's decision as to our lives here on earth. If we are straying too far from His wishes for us, we will die. That is the purpose of Yom Kippur. It is on this day that God finalizes His decision for the next year. Who will live, or die; who will be successful; who will experience pain.

These are the the wages of our "sin."
