At that time mass extermination was still in the future. I do not believe that anyone could have totally agreed with the "Final Solution" that early.

Of course there is the possibility that people agreed with the ideaology that could lead to the exterminations, but not the exterminations themselves. You need to realize that the "science" used to sell their racial policies could sound very plausible. The Wansee conference was held on January 20, 1942. The idea of gassing had not been presented to the SS generals prior to that. It was secret at the time so even other military did not know about it at the time. Deception of all was part of the bureaucracy that made this machine of death work. There was always the ability to keep denying it to yourself (if you did not want to think too hard).

I know a soldier in the German Army at the time who was stationed in Africa. He did not know anything about it until he returned home after the war, and then feels he never heard the "whole" story until much later.

All this is a long way to say that I do not believe any individual not involved directly can be held accountable. The Nazis were very good at preventing people from getting too curious. We cannot understand the fear that was so prevailent at the time.

As to actions of Jehovah's Witnesses as a group, I really never researched it. But I would suggest that we remember that it was a time of war with a country that wholeheartedly believed in its racial superiorty and right to dominate the world. Lesser races were not deserving of life so they were freeing them from suffering by killing them. This is a very different enemy than we encounter today.
