Because of the environment n Jerusalem at the time, the idea that a man could be God would not have been the thing to profess. It is easy to see this in the Christian scriptures about why Jesus was crucified.

It would not have been difficult to say that a man was sent by God, but to make him God would have been seen as blasphemy.

However, the increasing hellenization would have made a larger and larger population more accepting of this position.

Remember after the Temple was destroyed, both scriptures were set (Jewish and Christian). At this time, some accepted books were excluded from the Jewish scriptures. It is my assertion that this was to serve a unifying purpose and to actually separate Jews from Christians (not necessary prior to the destruction of the Temple). So the Jews would exclude some writings the Christians kept, and probably the Christians would have excluded some texts of the Jews. I am basing this on the use of the Masoretic text by Jews and the Septuigent by the Christians.

I may be splitting hairs, but that is my job.
