• He had purposely put off all of his work for today so he could spend the day helping her with the painting - he was getting sick of his darkroom and soaking his hands in chemicals for twelve hours a day anyways, so he was in much the same state as she was, covered in paint with a paintbrush in hand on a step ladder, getting the top border of the wall. "It's amazing that this place is actually starting to look less like a barn and more like a house... it's taken on a huge transformation." • And with the wedding just a month away they were pretty frantically trying to get it finished. They had yet to install the bathroom and kitchen- which would take a few weeks- but they were going to employ professional plumbers and electricians for that job. Lacey was using the roller to get all the paint on the walls finished, her blonde curls in loose pigtails either side of her head, her nose and cheek and forhead smudged with paint- as were her tank and shorts and bare legs- but they were having fun- perhaps the most fun they'd had in a long time. Lacey had even taklen the day off from the horses to spend with him, just having fun and chatting and spending some 'just them' time. "I know ... its just how I imagined it... better even... I don't think I can wait till after the honeymoon to move in. • She grinned softly and nodded a little at that "That sounds great." She was looking forward to the wedding, kind of... She was looking forward to being married to him anyway- it was just the actually day she was kind of dreading a little- not that she'd breathed a word of her concerns to Ryan. Her brothers were still adament that they wanted nothing to do with it- that they wouldn;t give her away and that they didn't even want to go. In all honesty it was breaking her heart but she didn;t want to worry Ryan with it- or anyone really. Nina knew- but that was about it. • He climbed down off of his ladder carefully - over the last couple of days just carrying cans of paint he was sure he had developed more muscles than he knew he even had... and today had been nice, feeling like a handyman, even though he obviously was not. "I should take tomorrow off too, and we could go for a nice hack out around." It wasn't often that he offered to go riding with her but this was so stressfree, so nice, he could put off work for another day and clear his schedule again... • She grinned a little at that, glancing over to him "That'd be great! You could probably ride your moms gelding Holden- he'd a nice ride... and a bit more manly than Bella..." She grinned a little. Plus they were only just weaning Mia and she wasn;t sure how much Bella would like a long ride when her baby was calling for her. "And I'll take one of the borders- I'm having a lesson on Spencer first- get him ready for sunday..." • He laughed a little bit, stretching upward to reach a bit of the moulding that he hadn't been able to get. "Then he sounds like a good match for me." He finished up, dropping his brush back into the pot of paint and climbed down from the ladder, yawning a bit and stretching his limbs out from the cramped position they'd been in up on the ladder. She was going to marry him with or without her brothers permission- she would be a legal adult- she didn't need consent for anything any more. • He frowned a little as he wiped his hands off on a rag they had hung off the rung of the ladder and shook his head. "They aren't?" He supposed he had never really thought they would approve of or be happy for the union but he hadn't imagined that they would boycott it altogether. "Why wouldn't they?" He frowned again and moved toward her, touching her shoulder gently. • She swallowed heavily and kept her gaze on the wall a moment longer "I don't know..." She glanced at him and tried a soft smile "They wont talk to me about it." She shrugged her shoulders and looked up at him "Its ok... I mean- its not, really... but it will have to be." She pursed her lips a little. • He frowned again and gave her shoulder a squeeze before drawing her up into his arms to give her whole body a good, supportive squeeze. "Well... I'll just have to talk to them." Nevermind that he wasn't sure he shouldn't fear for his life when being in their presence - he couldn't bear to see her unhappy on a day that was supposed to rank as one of the happiest of her life. • She shook her head and leaned up to press a kiss to his cheek "Don't worry about it." It wouldn't 'ruin' the wedding... it would just be the end of Lacey and her brothers relationship. If they didn;t support her through this she wasn't sure she'd ever feel like even looking at them again. She picked up the roller and the paint tray and set it up ont he work bench for later "Come feed the ponies with me." • He couldn't help but worry about it though - worry as he did about her happiness and comfort - which he had felt inclined to do since he first met her. He shrugged it off a little but made a mental note to self not to mention it further to her.. he took up her hand and followed her out the door - one of the things he loved best about this little cottage was that it was so close to the barn. She pulled open the barn doors and smiled, the smells and sounds comforting her. They always tended to leave all the horses unfed until around seven or so in the evening- incase any of the boarders turned up wanting to ride.
