Subject: Wow...this place looks just like home!

I can now claim to be reasonably upset about the last ever "Angel". This season has really engaged me, and, on more than a few occasions, made me laugh outright. "Smile Time" was just an hour where I thought my dealer had decided to reward my good custom by cutting my weed with some kind of outrageous chemical delight. Anyway, it's rolling up to the finish line now and I just wanted to say a big "fuck you very much" to the WB, because its absence will, by me anyway, be noticed quite painfully for the forseeable future. When BtVS ended the blow was softened somewhat by the knowledge that the Buffyverse was still extant, even if large and unpleasant plotline and writing horrors needed to be thrown in the basement and burned. It was still there. Angel was in LA, and who knew, Buffy may have dropped in occasionally.

But it's going to be over for me soon, and while I didn't really care when I first heard about the show's demise, I kinda really do now.

Anyway, to the execs of the WB I say this: may the tiny, crawling, biting things that skitter and screech over the surface of this planet all be drawn to your groins and feast for eternity on the softest parts of your reproductive systems. May they lay eggs in your urethras and anuses, causing a discomfort so fundamentally profound that your only resort will be to take napalm baths for the rest of your life. May all your progeny be born with tiny dicks. And that includes the girls. That is all.

On a happier note, how the fuck are all you lovely people? And Hazel (I'm kidding...KIDDING!)

And thank you for expressing so eloquently the preferred fate for WB execs of all stripes.

And I agree, this season of "Angel" was a real return to form for Joss et al. and it's unfortunate to see a show struck down in its renaissance (especially while crap like "The Swan" is poisoning the airwaves and the culture at large.)

And we're very well. Hope you're the same.

And you expressed exactly how I've been feeling about Angel's end - I was sanguine when I first heard, but then my upset grew and grew. Bah. I fully support your cursing of WB execs.

I've been doing fairly well of late, although I've developed an apathetic, slacker edge regarding my job. I'm searching for a new one, but that takes time.

How was Egypt?

[> Good to see you on the Board. -- wwolfe, 09:56:12 05/27/04 Thu (161.149.63.100)

I loved the finale of "Angel" a lot. Thinking about it in the week since it aired, and considering Joss's comment that next season would have been about what happens after the old order is overthrown (don't worry, that's not spoilerish for the finale), it occurred to me that a Season Six could have built a fascinating parallel between the consequences of this season and the aftermath of the Cold War, when the world moved from the unnatural but effective (for better or worse) order enforced by the divvying up of nations between America and the Soviet Union and our current disorder, verging on chaos. When I thought of that unfulfilled possibility, I was suddenly very sad about the absence of Joss on TV.

On the plus side, Audra was kind enough to lend me her DVDs of "Firefly" and, after a lukewarm start, I'm now getting caught up in that show. It'll never be "Buffy" for me, but neither will anything else, so that's not really a criticism.

Hello darling. I've missed you. No one else's "death to the WB" rants are nearly as satisfying as yours. :-) How's your lovely wife?

Things are a little shaky down at my homestead. Turns out my little brother has been diagnosed with testicular cancer. He goes into surgery on Friday. Please send happy, karmically good thoughts in our general direction!

Other than that, I've been working, hanging out with the boyfriend, attending graduation parties, and preparing for the onslaught of weddings this summer.

Dude!

Glad to see you're still in top critique form. You have managed to capture the exact mood necessary, down to the groinal insertions.

Congrats on Arsenal one more time.

When are ya coming to Philly?

I pay NO attention WHATsoever.

Also, the Happy Tree Friends theme song sucks.

That is all.

...does not suck.

It is an anthem, a paean to joy and frivolity.

It is also the perfect thing to play down the phone to dumb blondes when you want to wake them up!
