The board's been bare too long.
What should we talk about? I have a lack of topic, so I think I'll just regale you with randomness. Feel free to ignore.
I saw the Barenaked Ladies concert Wednesday, which I loved. They are just great entertainers, in general. Wwolfe has already reviewed it brilliantly, so I won't be redundant here, but something DID happen here that was different: The lead singer of the opening band, Howie Day, was a little annoyed with us as an audience. He kept whining that we were quiet (he's in Wisconsin at 8 o'clock on a Wednesday, and he's NOT the band we paid to see. Sorry dude, but not drunk enough to scream just cuz you say so.) Anyways, he was arrested after the concert for Drunk and Disorderly, and Intimidation of a Victim. Apparently some girls came aboard the tour bus after the show....and he wouldn't let them leave. One of them called 911. Guess he doesn't think we're all that quiet now.
Seen any good movies lately? I'm heading to one tonight, and I can't decide whether to see Jersey Girl or Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind. Opinions, anyone?
My boyfriend is the assistant manager of a movie theater here. Among his duties is to place the movie posters around the lobby. His personal amusement is placing ironic ones next to each other. Example: Currently, in the hallway outside The Passion, there are now posters advertising The Exorcist 2 and Hellboy. For April Fool's, he's planning on replacing every single poster with advertisements for the Spongebob Squarepants movie.
Several of the gals from work have recently gotten engaged, and so a sort of group bachelorette party is being planned. They want to have a sex toy party. Apparently, this is the new Tupperware party. Hmm. Who knew?
Yup, it's official, this post really has no point. Just a good old fashioned ramble. Enjoy.

Nothing as exciting as a Barenaked Ladies show around here. Just killing time until I can get my visa to go back to the UK and marry Simon!! 2 more weeks and he's here.
I did have a buffy related question...what the hell was it? I'll try to remember and get back to y'all!!

Are you going to get married as soon as he gets there, or are you still in planning stages? Do you have a dress?
Sorry, I'm in two weddings, and going to be a guest at another this summer. And two people at work just announced they are both planning quick weddings- probalby for this summer. So I'm in the midst of crazy planning with many people, and have dresses on the brain!

Good grief, it's been ages since I've used that name and posted on a board. Feels kind of weird.

OMG, I LOVED the BNL show. Loved to the tenth power. My boyfriend told me they're coming back to LA at the end of July with Alanis Morissette (whom I also adore) so I think I'm gonna see them AGAIN.
Strangely enough, I think sex toy parties are the new rage, because my sister was mentioning them the other day (only she referred to it as a "dildo party"). Personally, I find the idea slightly disturbing, but hey...hatever floats your boat.
GO SEE Eternal Sunshine! It's the best movie I've seen in AGES. The Ladykillers was fun too.

I did go see Eternal Sunshine, and it ROCKED. I completely adored it. Quirky, different, unique....some of my favorite things to find in a flick. :-)
And I'm horribly jealous about the prospect of BNL with Alanis. *sigh* You must go, so I can live vicariously through you!

Your boyfriend with the posters sounds funny. I occasionally notice similar things in other theatres, so I wonder if he isn't the only one.
And I first started hearing about the sex-toy parties, oh, maybe ten years ago. I find the idea kind of meh, actually. I mean, if the bride-to-be likes that kind of thing, chances are she already has a toy box of her own, and her tastes are probably not the same as my tastes, anyway. And if she doesn't like that sort of thing, it's only going to embarrass her and waste everybody's money and time. Personally, I'd rather get nice cookware than a vibrator any day. :)
Okay- Randomness:
Wonderfalls- I completely forgot it was on this past Friday, and when I realized Saturday morning, I immediately shrugged it off. Considering I used to count the days until there was a new episode of Buffy, this isn't boding well for my (or America's) continuing interest. Sorry, Timmy. Better luck next time.
Grim's show closed this past Saturday. It was a wonderful run, and he was wonderful in it. We had the cast party Friday might, and someone had written song parodies of two of the songs from the show to lightly rib the director and the musical director. Hysterical. Then at the set strike Saturday night, the director sat down with me to thank me for supporting Grim in this show, and to ask me to encourage him to perform more. That was really nice. I was so proud.
Who saw the Simpsons last night with SMG? She was good (they played with her ability to burst into tears at the drop of a hat), but the episode was eh. The episode that followed, however... it was a repeat of the one where they went to England, but we'd never seen it before. Oh, God. They did a Trainspotting joke! Hysterical.
So, good to see you guys. Hope you can hang around more.

Some girl at the University of Wisconsin had vanished, apparently kidnapped, and authorities were fearing the worst. But they found her, alive and well, in a marsh somewhere in the area. So a surprisingly happy ending. (Although I was left wondering, "They have marshes in Wisconsin?")
The opening act for Barenaked Ladies was an English woman named Butterfly Boucher. She showed some promise in her songwriting and she had a fun, cheeky personality. As far as I know, she didn't hold anyone hostage on her tour bus, either.

I was driving home from work, and all of a sudden I'm seeing helicopters. And the other side of the highway is completely jammed with people, meanwhile my side of the highway, which is usually equally jammed, is fairly empty. Then I see like 8 cop cars lined up alongside the highway, with cops standing next to the cars with assault rifles pointed at the marsh (I'm not sure it's really a "marsh" per se....it's really just a marshy area that's not very big. It's inbetween one of our lakes and the highway). The whole thing was very surreal.
On top of that, there has been like no new information released about this armed man who's allegedly roaming the countryside, where the girl has been for 4-5 days, nothing. The whole thing is just a little off, if you ask me. I'll be interested to hear the whole story.
And here I thought it was Butterfly VOUCHER. Well, BOUCHER, now that....no, wait, that still makes no sense. Anyways, I thought she was really brave to get up there all on her own, but she didn't do much to hype up the crowd. Which could be why Howie Day thought we were too quiet, got pissy, got arrested, and had to be in court today. Hmmm. Wonder if he can use that as a defense?

Used, I believe, by Axel Rose when prosecuted for gobbing on many audiences who've failed to reach levels of excitement he found acceptable.
Man, that would be one weird scene to come across while driving home. It reminds me of the time I was driving at night on Sunset Boulevard and I came around a curve to find a helicopter hovering a few feet above a house, spotlight shining down onto it, with cops all around. Apparently, we take unpaid traffic tickets *very* seriously here in LA.

You might have, it's been on the national news and stuff. We've got police with assault rifles, helicoptors with infrared cameras, dogs and people out combing all of freaking Madison, her family was terrified, all her friends and neighbors came here from Minnesota to frantically look for her for like 5 days....
AND SHE MADE THE WHOLE THING UP!
She went out, bought a knife and duct tape and rope and stuff, went to live in the marshes, then told people she'd been abducted! Unreal.
This weekend at UW campus, they had a "Welcome Back Audrey....NOT" party. Let's hear it for sarcasm! And the ability of college students to find absolutely any reason to go drinking. WOO HOO!

It's not like a person needs an EXCUSE to live in a marsh...
This is similar to a situation that occurred on a local college campus. A teacher who was very heavily involved in every kind of PC crusade you could name returned to her car in a campus parking lot after some meeting of activists one night to find epithets spray-painted on the hood and the windows smashed. She reported it and the police investigated it as a hate crime, only to find proof that she did it herself!! She's now being proescuted and fired.
I guess she could always go live in a marsh in Wisconsin.
