Subject: GG's, its been a long time, Weird and Wacky Question of the Day...

This I have always wondered:

In Chosen, Buffy comes up with the idea to release the power of the scythe to all the potentials in the world. Fine idea. But why didn't she have Willow do it BEFORE the SITs and Buffy and Spike went down to face the Ubervamp army? Wouldn't it have made more sense for the SITs et al to wait above the entrance to the Hellmouth until they felt the power enter them and THEN open the portal and kick some demon butt? And if the portal had to be opened before the scythe was activiated, then why didn't they wait at the entrance until the had the power?

This has really bugged me...thoughts?

Honestly, there wasn't a logical reason within the plotline. But dramatically, it worked.

They wouldn't have to care about her destroying the world, cuz they'd all be Uber-vamp bait anyways.

Or possibly cuz they thought the First would sense it, or find out what they were doing, and find a way to fight it.

Or possibly just cuz it looked cool.

Maybe the potentials had to be engaged in Slayer activity for the Slayer power to enter them. There was no reference to this in the script, but it would make sense to me.
