Happy New Year!!

Simon and I are avoiding the expense and crowds of NYE in Belfast and are going to sit around and eat good food and drink champagne tonight. What are you doing?

sleeping looks very good. I've been getting up super early all week, and last night I collapsed on the couch into a nap the moment I got home. If I have the energy, I might go see Return of the King again. The last two years, LotRs has been my New Year's Eve tradition.

The weather is usually cold and icy, and I don't want to venture far from home because of all the drinking that occurs.

The return of the king was just AMAZING...absolutely AMAZING. I would definitely like to see it again.

We'll be having an early dinner at our favorite Chinese restaurant and then a quiet night in, probably watching a movie. Smooches at midnight, if we're still awake. :-)

...I spend New Year's Eve at the home of the lead singer and piano player in my band. We rent a movie, order a pizza, and wind up in their hot tub around midnight, listening to music and ingesting exotic materials. When the people at the bottom of the hill start shooting pistols at midnight, we go inside.

This year, they're going out to dinner to have a late anniversary celebration, so either I'll get together with Rosemary for dinner and a movie, if her current head cold isn't too debilitating, or I'll just stay home and talk to whoever shows up on IM (of course, I could easily wind up following Pouncer's plan by falling asleep on the couch).

Tomorrow I'll watch football on TV with our lead singer, while basking in the knowledge that I don't have to go to work until next Monday.

I'm not the only one with a sleeping/IMing plan. That was my backup - seeing who was online to chat.

Sean & I are going to hook up with my brother and sister in law. My SIL called this morning to let me know they have tons of food and the cranium board is ready.

I hope all of your New Year's Eve's were lovely!

After a rather crummy Christmas, I had a very nice New Year's. My boyfriend and I went to a nice restaurant, where we waited two hours for a table (as we had expected, naturally). Basically we got to spend those two hours in the bar, sipping cocktails and listening a very good jazz pianist, and just relaxing and getting to talk to one another for a change. The whole evening was very low key, but I loved it.
