My Galant did that 2 months ago, and it turned out to be the ECM (Engine Control Module). ECM to go (http://www.ecmtogo.com/) and other companies are able to rebuild them, and could save you some money over the dealer's estimate for a new one. The estimate I got for a new one was over one thousand dollars after labor and everything. With a rebuilt one, it cost me around $300 after it was installed. They are easy to install, just make sure the battery is disconnected when connecting it. After it was hooked up, the car has run well.
