Subject: 4x4 350 trans swap

my truck 1978 cheyenne needs a tranny. i purchased a used turbo 350 with transfer case front drive shaft and crossmember. the engine in the truck is a 69 350 bored and balanced with a big cam. i'm not sure of the specs on the cam but it is not a stock cam. my problems are: do i need a stall converter in order to use a stock tranny? how exactly do i perform this swap out? what seals etc. should i change? what type of fluid goes in the transfer case trans or gear oil? any advice or tips will be greatly appreciated as i love this truck and its been off the road too too too long. thank you
