Subject: just about had the big one

From the land of the Bluenose.....well it was a long night shift folllowed by a short rest as the super of the building was out bright and early mowing the pavement while occasionally hitting a patch of grass and the flower beds. Son of a seahorse! No rest for the wicked eh.

Anyway got up and called the Bardman and we headed to the nearest Tim's for my large triple milk and a medium black for him. How the bouy drinks it like that I'll never know. Andy Eh does also but he swings a Fisher or Minelab so it is understandable.

The drive to the park was a pleasant affair with Bardman relating the virtues of park and playing field digging on his recent two month trip to Alberta and how he got stopped at the Alberta/Saskatchewan border on the way back and asked to produce his passport to reenter Canada.

Once at the park in the Wellington area we geared up and hit the area to the left of the beach on the hill with Bardman's first target being a toonie. Noticed his swinging technic and pace had greatly improved since his rookie year last season with coins popping from the ground at a good clip. As was the case in my previous visit the swinging was easy and the ground fairly soft making extractions a snap.

While doing the bottom of the slope I hit an odd sound and immediately set to work digging it up. Well mister man me old heart did a double take as out came this gold ring with a cluster of diamonds on it. Looking like Clyde the Orangutan from the film "Every Which way but Loose" I ran over to the Bardman with the detector held in one hand over my head and the "diamond" in the other. Bardman who has the better eye sight than this aging degenerate, checked it over for a marking.....there was none! On closer examination it turned out to be a plated ring of some kind. So much for the big find so I continued a digging with a saddened heart...at least till the next coin was dug up.

As with so many digs time was running short as I had to return home to make the bed, do the dishes, cook supper, make my lunch, kiss my Hunny Bunny good bye and head to work.

Bardman netted about 30 coins totalling $3.00 while I 60 coins @$8.09 plus the "diamond ring." A great looking day, a good dig with a good bud. Just a typical day in the "Land of the Bluenose."
