Subject: 1st silver for Newbie and double "0" for the ole Bouy

From the land of the Bluenose...meet up with newbie John (remember the bucket guy...well now the Tim the Tool man apron guy) at Tim's for a day of digging delight. After picking up a most fine cup of mud it was off to a secluded beach in the Uniacke area. The trip back to the beach was an arduous one to say the least in the wet suit as felled trees from Juan crosssed the narrow path and the stream was fairly high. John struck first with a few pennies and bottle caps while I drudged away in the underwater quarry. Man the digging was tough and eventually gave up after 3 pennies and a ton of bottle caps.

From there it was off to a park in the Wellington area where we both did a land dig. Just ideal conditions with the park virtually deserted and the grass recently cut making swinging a joy. Helped John with his swinging, pinpointing and retrieval techics. Park is a great place for a newbie as their is limited junk targets and John was quickly digging up pennies at a good pace with confidence. After an hour and a half both of us decided to call it quits in another 15 minutes. It was then that I dug a ring made of brass in a wedding band style. John shortly afterwards was rewarded with his first silver coin...a 1966 dime . The smile on his face was priceless. As we headed towards the car we were approached by a lady carrying her son who inquired as to what we were doing in broken English. Turns out the lady was from Holland on vacation visiting her sister. Started to dig an iffy sound and out popped a nice little rosebud silver ring. She bent down to have a look.....all I can say is that it reminded me of a road sign..."beware of falling rock!" made my day and just thanked my lucky stars Marie was not with me.

On the way home felt kind of guilty so I stopped at the jewelry store and picked up the diamond ring that I found a few weeks ago. They did a nice job of shining and resizing it.....Marie was mildly impressed.....women.

Total for the day was 2 rings and 43 coins with John hitting close to 30 and a few tent pegs. For about his 3rd time out did great!
