Brute 3 a: CRUEL, SAVAGE - Webster's

As I set here I wonder to myself how many of you have to deal with these kind of people. While I myself do not know everything, by a long shot, I attempt to learn. I try not to be too verbal about subjects I do not know much about. I know a little about hunting, but not as much as many. I'm amazed at those who can tear an engine apart and put it together again.

My greatest forte lies in genealogy and history. I have been involved in genealogy for more that thirty years.

Carlo Maria Cipolla wrote five laws of stupidity:
1. ...each of us underestimates the number of stupid individuals in circulation.
2. The probability that a given person is stupid is independent of any other characteristic possessed by that person.
3. A person is stupid if they cause damage to another person or group of people without experiencing personal gain, or worse causing damage to themselves in the process.
4. Non-stupid people always underestimate the harmful potential of stupid people; they constantly forget that at any time anywhere, and in any circumstance, dealing with or associating themselves with stupid individuals invariably constitutes a costly error.
5. A stupid person is the most dangerous person there is.

I was beset by a stupid individual yesterday who said, "you aren't really related to all those people, you're just tellin' lies!"

Let us see now, I researched every step in my genealogical past. I have gotten land deeds, census records, wills, copies of land grants, walked through numerous graveyards, spent many-many hours in the genealogical section of libraries etc., etc. So I MUST be lying. It should be obvious. After all, if I wasn't lying why else would I put myself through all that?

When I asked what genealogy he had done the response was "none!" So let's see how that would work in other fields of endeavor. A medical doctor spends eight years in college to become a Doctor, and I think two years as in residency. "Hey Doc, my name's Hichael Mallmark and I'm here to tell you that you don't know what the hell yer a doin'. Now I aint never cracked a medical book in my life. But I'm here to tell ya that yer just a quack and a lyin' piece of dung, because I know better. I know because I'm big and I'm loud. And I may not know much, but I know yer full of it!"

You can easily see how that Doctor who had devoted ten years to becoming a physician would see the error of his ways because a big, incredibly stupid, loud mouthed country rube had figured him out at a glance.

All I can say is if someone has never walked in my shoes and doesn't know the first thing about what I do, they should probably keep their big mouth shut.

At present I'm doing research on the Cucuteni-Trypillian culture as part of an article I'm working on in the field of DNA. I have an interest in paleontology. I think that's what I would have liked to have been. Who knows, maybe it's not too late.

Be safe.
