Puffing a little as he climbs a tree,
Finally reaching that big branch just above the creek.
Just struggled up danger to see the beauty below;
He looks down now in wonder at a stream under his eyes.

The challenge was to rise above his own fear,
Happily he did that with flying courage.
Wondering now what he would have done without wings,
Because to naturally fly was for birds wasn't it?

Still, his envy of them almost made him leap,
Worst ending would be a cold moving bath below.
He'd swim to shore and that would be that;
Then, no swimming lessons cooled his thought.

How smart one can be at such a tender age,
Or at least that's what little boys think.
Yet isn't that what discovery is all about,
To be born in this land of Columbia instills braveness.

Note: This poem is for little girls too, and we should be so proud of our courageous heroic astronauts! Love, Robert
