What can I say about this. Well, actually a lot. Unfortunately I must keep this short. First of all I agree with my brother for the most part, the other parts I will clarify shortly. Second of all, I do not know if your question was based on our web site or just something you wanted to say. If it was on our web site I would like to say that our web site promotes no one belief but rather many beliefs.
I do not believe in a "club" rather it is those that return his love. This does not mean any one particular religion. As far as a number, I don't believe God set a number but rather he just stated the obvious. If the government offered $1000 dollars to everyone that didn't commit a crime, does that mean there wouldn't be any crime, no. Heaven is a reward for those that were faithful and returned his love.
Good question on the flood. In those days in all cultures many people attributed any natural disaster with a god's anger. Our religious ancestors may not have been any different and remember the scriptures were inspired by God not written by God. Then again perhaps it is God's anger upon us and perhaps it is not gone anymore we just call it something else. I have my beliefs but they have not biblical (or any other than my own) support.
As far as conversion is concerned...I actually agree with you. Because of the wording in the bible people feel it is there duty to convert people. Problem is everyone is separated into 1200 denominations.....so what flavor of christian do you wish to be? Sorry I mean no disrespect. I just don't believe people realize what is going on. We are Christians and should be spreading the word. Not forcibly and not proclaiming that everyone else is wrong but my Denomination is right because....."i say so". I don't think so. We should be focusing on God not our selves and how many we can bring in to the collection plate.
Is this my God? I agree with my brother. No you do not discrbe my God, but perhaps you just reinterpret what others have said about my God. Actually I don't believe in a my God, your God. I will sum this up with my favorite saying "Many Paths, One Destination."
Satan, Lucifer or the Devil no matter what you call him he's the same guy right? No. I will not go into detail about the different meanings of these "people" but rather the "person" you refer to. First of all did the Lucifer in question rebel against God. Hmmm, read your bible, I can't find it. In the whole book of wisdom it never mentions the falling of Lucifer or any other Angel. It mentions Satan as against God, but yet he waltzed right up into God's court in the classic tale of Job. Is there a supreme evil being, I don't know.
And finally, is God omnipotent? I'm not saying. That is another topic all together. You can mention hundreds of times he is, should have been, or obviously wasn't acting on it if he was. We don't know the nature of God no matter how many televangulist (spelling?) you listen to tell you so.
I hope this helped. I know it was long and probably gave more questions than answers but I gave it my best shot. Good luck in your Faith search and I hope you find your "Path".
