Subject: Clearing out taillights?

Does anyone know how to clear out the taillights?
I was browsing on fast magn.com and they have some pretty tight D's.
They all say that if you want them...DIY.
I wonder if you just take the lights out and open them up if you can break the thin colored coating and it will be clear or is the entire glass colored?
