It Don�t Get Better Than This© 8.14.2001

Weak in his attack,
he retreated to his corner.
It wasn�t the diamonds and pearls he
bought just to adorn her.

Now the beads of sweat were dripping,
ripening on his brow.
With his next move contemplated,
he feared the here and now.

He stood up
and slowly walked back towards her.
The rest of his life was still
a total lifeless blur.

The mood grew so raw and thick
until he handed her the ring.
The tears , then streamed down her face.
Could you hear the angels sing?

He slipped the ring on her hand,
and gave her a soft kiss.
Now I�m tellin�ya son, their life�s now fun,
and it don�t get better than this.

Hey Red!

First, keep in mind that I had just finished reading and commenting on a poem of Mazenn's... so of course my outlook was dark! :) It just seemed that I didn't know why, but this guys was really scared and nervous... so I was expecting something bad. The second to last verse shows me what's really going on. :)
