I had always thought that it would be best to run the type of tyre a car was built for. In mono last year I ran cast off f3 radials drys and wets (ralt rt3). In the dry the tyres were fickle and took ages to warm up in cool weather and I had to run loads of camber to make them 'almost' work, but the wets were incredible.

When I started getting into arp over the winter and ran arp crossplys on the rt35 in the winter series I found that the tyre performance was very consistant until they were almost bald. If using crossplys tyres means that I can get 3 to 4 races or tests from one set (I hope)without compromising performance too much then thats cool with me.

The one drawback I discovered was that the crossply tyre diameter size seemed to vary a lot on mine from tyre to tyre, perhaps these were from different batches, I am going to ask BTMR about this.

Nice to see the forum being used again.

Thanks for your great support over the winter, Mark.

See you at Mallory for my shakedown next week (12th).

rgds Alan
