Got Passion?
by Scott Gurule
The difference between a quitter and a finisher, a climber and a camper, and a presser and a parker, comes down to one word: passion. What is it that drives you? What gets you out of bed every morning? Why do you continue to go when everyone else has quit? Answer these simple questions, and you can find your reason for living, your calling from God and your life’s work.
Of course, one problem is that too many people go to work each day for the simple reason of making money to buy more toys. A person of passion does not merely pay the bills and buy the toys; he finances the kingdom of God. He goes to work every day with a smile on his face. He has decided that it’s time to step out in faith and obedience—to get off the couch and make a difference in the world.
One night I had a wondrous dream. One set of footprints there was seen.
The footprints of my precious Lord, but mine were not along the shore.
Then some strange prints appeared, and I asked the Lord, "What have we here?"
"Those prints are large and round and neat, but Lord they are too big for feet."
"My child," He said in somber tones, "For miles I carried you alone.
I challenged you to walk in faith, but you refused and made me wait.
You disobeyed, you would not grow, and the walk of faith you did not know.
So I gave in—through bitter tears—and there I dropped you on your rear."
You know, in life there comes a time, when we must fight and we must climb; when we, by faith, must take a stand…or leave our butt prints in the sand.

Seek God, read His Word, and talk to Him. Rekindle that passion you first had when you accepted His grace and asked Him to change your life. You may not know God’s full calling for your life, but you can still have a daily passion that fuels you. Now’s the time to decide: What sort of prints will you leave in the sand?
Now go back and read 1 Thessalonians 4:1–12 one more time.
